What’s The Difference Between Light & Dark Honey?
You might be wondering what the differences are between Light, Medium and Dark colored Honey.
There are a number of different ways to accurately measure this to understand what flavor profiles certain Honey will have. For simplicity though, we’ve decided to put together a basic guide (below) on what you can expect with 100% Raw Honey.
Generally speaking the darker honey is, the more health benefits it contains.
This is not always true however for specialist mono-floral products such as Mānuka Honey, which fall under certain testing regulations in New Zealand and for export. Some types of Mānuka Honey may contain richer colors and textures than traditional Honey.

For the most part, lighter colored Honey offers a soft and sweet flavor profile, great for sweet treats such dessert toppings and baking.
Medium Amber Honey will quite often produce a mild and mellow bite, a tasty choice for breakfast toppings on toast, cereals and muesli.
Darker Honey will bring richer, sharper flavors with a warmer bite. These are great for home remedies for coughs, colds and sore throats.
As always though, any Honey is good Honey, so long as it’s 100% Raw.
